Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Regional hub in Astana Alikhan Baimenov met with the envoy of UN Secretary General Jorge Chediek.
Kazakhstan’s contribution to development of interregional cooperation was noted by the envoy of UN Secretary General, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the press service of Astana Regional Hub in civil service area.
Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Regional hub in Astana Alikhan Baimenov met with Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations on cooperation “South-South” Jorge Chediek and discussed issues of further cooperation in the sphere of public service.
During the meeting Baymenov noted the role and importance of inter-regional cooperation in the trilateral format “South-South” in the civil service. He also informed about expansion of geography of the organization up to 36 member countries, including OECD states, CIS, ASEAN, and the new research, publications, initiatives of the Hub.
Mr. Jorge Chediek noted “an exceptional work of the Hub in promoting regional and interregional cooperation”. According to him, the Hub’s activity is considered by the United Nations as a contribution of Kazakhstan to development of international partnerships to achieve sustainable development goals.
During the discussion the sides also considered the issues of implementation of new joint initiatives to improve the civil service.
Earlier, the UN noted that the creation of the Hub in Astana and its success were possible due to Kazakhstan’s readiness to share its successful experience in implementation of reforms, including the strengthening of meritocracy in the civil service.
In 2014, the Hub was awarded a special UN award for contribution to development of cooperation in the world in “South-South” format.
