The UN headquarters discussed the role of Kazakhstan in promoting international cooperation on civil service excellence

June 19, 2015 International conference was held at the UN Headquarters in New-York city (USA) on theme “International Cooperation for Civil Service Excellence: A Bridge to Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals” which has been organized by the Regional Hub of Civil Service in Astana, Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the United Nations, the United Nations Development Programme.

In the event the resident missions of the United Nations Member States, representatives of participating countries and expert network of the Regional Hub, representatives of the UNDP and the UN headquarters, other experts and practitioners in this sphere.

Laying a special emphasis on Kazakhstan’s experience and international practices in civil service perfection, the participants discussed the forms of regional and global cooperation for the development of the civil service with a view to achieve the Sustainable development goals, innovative solutions for the civil service development, the use of strategic foresight across the civil service perfection.

Experts from the OECD, American Society of Public Administration, and the Afghanistan Civil Service Institute exchanged the views on determination of the most effective approaches to increasing professional skills of civil servants and improving the delivery of high-quality services.

In his speech, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Regional Hub - Mr. Alikhan Baimenov underlined that the Regional Hub is a unique organization with more than 30 participating countries and serves as a bridge for the countries of the region in achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

Mr. Alikhan Baimenov also announced the imminent opening of the competition of innovative solutions in the field of civil service among the participating countries of the Regional Hub, the winner of which will be able to receive a grant to study the cases and conduct a workshop for the participants of the Hub.
