Alikhan Baimenov, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Regional Hub met with Zhang Hanhuey, Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan and discussed issues of further cooperation in the field of civil service.
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Steering Committee briefed his guest on the main directions of the Hub’s activities and emphasized that nowadays the Hub consists of 32 participating member states, including OECD, CIS, Central Asia, and ASEAN states. The expansion of the geographical coverage of the Hub’s participating countries demonstrates the interest of participating states in cooperation for a new, higher quality, level of capacity-building and partnerships in the sphere of civil service.
China is also one of the founders and active members of the Hub.
The two sides noted the success of their joint project, the pilot seminar for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation countries’ civil servants with the Chinese Academy of Public Administration, which was held in December 2015.
The Hub and the Chinese Academy of Public Administration outlined their ideas for further prospects of cooperation on the basis of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2015.
Regional Hub, which has been created with the support of the President of Kazakhstan, has been noted by Mr. Zhang Hanhuey as an effective instrument to strengthen regional and bilateral relations, and to enhance engagement of authorized bodies in the civil service sphere of the region.
